Martial Arts

Originally known as the "Path of the Bow and the Horse," the Japanese martial arts later became part of "Bushido" -- the warrior arts. Now practiced as sports, the Japanese martial arts are about much more than just fighting -- they often teach spirituality, ethics and self-control. Whether you plan on earning a black belt or not, a little knowledge of these "paths" will take you a long way toward understanding Japanese culture.
