Well, obviously, a new look for the website. We’re still about just-the-facts and just-the-text, but we hope that this new design is more mobile responsive and easier to update. And for those who still remember the pink - we’ve heard that yellow is the new pink.
We’ve added an option for schools to opt-out of using our Position Listing Form. We hope, and strongly encourage, schools to help us provide the best and most accurate information about teaching English in Japan by continuing to fill-out the Form and having O-Hayo Sensei report their position for free. But, we also recognize that there may be legitimate circumstances which require a school to recruit “anonymously.”
At the same time, we have clarified exactly what information O-Hayo Sensei requires for a free position listing by clearly marking which fields are “required” and which are “optional.”
And perhaps the most interesting for us, we have built an online Position Listing Form. That’s a long way from the over-sized postcard Forms O-Hayo Sensei mailed out during the last millennium - we hope it makes recruiting the best teachers even easier. And, of course, that it works.
What hasn't changed is that position listings are still free for schools (just send us the Form like always, by e-mail or online), O-Hayo Sensei is still free for readers (request a copy of the current issue by e-mail or check it out online), and subscriptions are still $12 (and welcome, because that’s what keeps O-Hayo Sensei going).
After 29 years of publication, O-Hayo Sensei has become one of the world’s oldest electronic periodicals. We look forward to year 30, hope you will still trust us after 30, and wonder if you will still need us after 64!
Thanks for reading.
